The holiday shopping season is upon us, and if a new phone or gadget is on your list, you could get a better deal when you redeem points to purchase Apple products through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.

Normally, your Ultimate Rewards points are worth 1 cent apiece toward Apple purchases made through Chase, but through November 30, 2021, they’re worth 1.1 to 1.5 cents each, depending on the card you have.

Using credit card points to buy holiday gifts is a good way to save money if you’re trying to cut costs, but you’ll typically get a lower value than if you used points for other redemptions, like transfers to airline and hotel partners.

    If you have a Chase Ultimate Rewards earning card, you can redeem your points directly for Apple products through the Apple Ultimate Rewards store. Most popular items, like MacBooks, iPhones, AirPods, and iPads, are offered through the portal, and the pricing is in line with what you’ll see on Apple’s website.

    Instead of getting a value of 1 cent per point when you redeem this way, this promotion offers a 10% to 50% bonus, depending on the card you have:

    The bonus you’ll receive might look familiar — it’s similar to the value you’ll receive when you redeem points toward purchases in eligible categories through Pay Yourself Back. In the case of the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, it’s also the same rate you’d get by redeeming points for travel booked through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.
